Inspiration and challenge

It has been a fun weekend of crafting.  I spent most of the day on Saturday helping my husband on our boat, but yesterday evening I spent making cards.  I have been totally inspired by Ivana from Paper Girl Crafts.  You can check out her blog here: http://papergirlcrafts.blogspot.com/.
Her projects are just stunning.  Her style is not at all what my style is right now, but I would love to be able to work towards here style.  Here are some the cards I made.

I made the flower with some tool that I received as gift wrap.  I cut into circle and burned the edges.  I put the flower together with a brad.  I wanted to put a pearl in the center, but the brad was the quickest way to attach all the layers.

My friend's dad died, so I made another sympathy card.  It seems to be the season of death, but also for new life.  I find it kind of strange.

Now for the challenge I mentioned in the title.  I had a little reality check this past weekend. I love to buy new things. I love to buy crafty things.  I watch youtube videos and see other's projects and craft supplies and feel like I need more things. I was looking at my craftroom and was like, Emily you need to be happy with what you have and use it.  My challenge is to make 15 cards before spending any more money.  I made 7 this weekend.  I need to make 8 more. :)  I think I should set goals like this all the time, so I don't just buy and not create.  Thanks for stopping by.

Boot Camp

My friend is boot camp for the Navy, so I decided to send her card.  She is into nautical stuff.  I don't have much that looks nautical.  This is what I came up with. It isn't particularly feminine so hopefully she likes it.  Thanks for stopping by.

10 minute craft dash #2

CD_14

This challenge inspired another idea, so I decided to make a second card.  This didn't go so well. It was a nice idea, but executing it should have taken more time than I did.  I used the same woodgrain background and spellbinder's die.  I also used a Hero Arts flower stamp.  I stamped it on pink paper and tried to fussy cut it out.  This took most of my time.  I could have done a better job.  Well, I didn't want a pink center, so I stamped the flower on white paper, colored the center and then tried to cut it out.  Well, that was way more difficult than I thought it would be.  I think I should have chosen a more simple flower.  Well, I was committed to finishing it before ten minutes so I did the best I could. The sentiment is a Sweet Stamp Shop stamp from the Sweet Victoria stamp collection.

Here is my time.

10 minute Craft Dash

I just found out about the 10 minute craft dash challenge.  The idea is to make a card with a certain color scheme in under 10 minutes.  I decided to give it try.
Here is the first card I tried.

I used lawn fawn stamps for this because they are sponsoring the challenge.  The woodgrain background is a Hero Arts background stamp.  I used a spellbinder's die cut also.

It took me under 6 minutes, which I was impressed with.  I am not sure how prepared you are supposed to be for this challenge.  I had a basic idea in my mind before I started the timer.  I also pulled some papers from my stash that were in the color scheme.  I have seen a few other people make a card and then it took over 10 minutes so they try again.  It seems like it would be a lot faster to create a card, if you had just created the exact same one.  I guess this is kind of a personal challenge.

Crafter's Companion March Challenge

I decided to enter the March Challenge for Crafter's Companion. The challenge is titled "Vintage".  Feel free to check it out HERE.  The challenge is to make a vintage card using Crafter's Companion products.  I used the "Romance" stamp set from the Cute Companions collection.  The eggs and the grass are from this collection.  I used Promarkers and Spectrum Noirs to colors the eggs.  The basket is from a Rubbernecker stamp set called "Create a garden set 1".  I used a spellbinder's die for the oval and recollections paper.
Thank you for stopping by.

Thank Yous

Well, since it was my birthday a few weeks ago I have been working on Thank You cards.  It takes me while to make all the thank you cards for people that gave me gifts.  I don't think people judge too much on late thank you cards especially if they are hand made, right?

I am not sure what I think of this card.   My sister gave me  Le Plume II markers.  I am still figuring out how to use them.

This is a card I made using some Kaisercraft paper that I won from  a Xyron/Kaisercraft hop.  I love their paper!! I used a Spellbinder's die that I received for my birthday.

Here is another thank you card I made.  Again, I am not sure what I think about it.  I received my first pad of Graphic 45 paper.  I love it!!

Here is another card using Kaisercraft paper.

This card I made because I recently bought this stamp.  I bought from All that Scraps.  It is a Krafting Kimmie stamp.  I think it is adorable! Thank you for stopping by.
Ps. Sorry about the bad pictures.  I need to work on that.  My camera setting seemed to have changed.

Tuesday Trigger

Well, I had some free time last night so I decided to craft of course.  I was inspired by the Tuesday Trigger on Moxie Fab world.  I have never enter Tuesday Trigger before, so this is kind of exciting.  I didn't quite get the colors I wanted, but  I thought this was close.  I really like the emerald and gold together.  Here is my inspiration.  Feel free to check it out over on Moxie Fab World.

Here is a closer image.

A Neon birthday

My friend's birthday is on the 17th, so I decided to make her a birthday card.  I went neon for some reason.  I used neon markers from promarkers.  The stamp set was one of the dollar studio G sets from Michaels.  The patterned paper is Recollections.  I also used two Spellbinders dies.
Thanks for stopping by.

Birthdays

Well I figure it is about time I post again.
Here are some cards I have made recently.

I decided to treat myself and place an order at all that scraps.  I really like their shop.  I bought this adorable stamp called "Summer Emma".

It was my birthday two weeks ago and I received some seem binding ribbon.  I was given cream instead of white.  I really like the cream but probably will invest in some white when I can.  The cream kind of has a yellow tint and doesn't seem to take the color super well.  It just different effect than  I think white would give.  I used peacock feathers and vintage photo distress ink to die this ribbon.

It was my twin sister's birthday two weeks ago too. :)  This is the card I made for her.  I am not sure what I think of it, but oh well.  I think she liked it.
My grandmother's birthday was the day before my birthday so I made here a card too.  I used Sweet Victoria from Sweet Stamp Shop.  Thanks for stopping by.
