Sympathy Cards

I have unfortunately been making many sympathy cards lately.  I feel like there has been way more deaths this year in family of my friends than there has been in many years combined.  It has made me appreciate those who are still living so much more.  It is hard to be upset at a family member when realize how horrible it would be to lose them.

I posted this card a few weeks back for Friday Friends with Flair.  When I went to send to a friend I felt like it needed something.  I added the "With Sympathy" sentiment, but I still felt like it needed  a little more.  I decided to add a little teal strip of paper under the lace.  It isn't much, but I thought it improved the card.

 Here is the before card.

This is just a random thank you card I made in the midst of making sympathy cards.  I just found these pieces lying around so I decided to assemble them on to a card.  Thanks for stopping by.

A sketch challenge

I love challenges and I love sketch challenges.  I don't know what I struggle with more, color combinations or sketches.  Either way I love challenges because they give me some direction and inspiration to do things I wouldn't think to do.  Here is the sketch I made this card from:
Amusing Challenges
It is from Chris Franco's blog who is an independent consultant for a*muse studio.  Thanks for stopping by.

Ippity Challenge

I made this card for the current Ippity challenge, "Flowers".  I really like the look of mixing patterned paper on cards, but I haven't done it much yet.  I think I will try to it more.  I kind of like the way this card turned out.  I used the Ippity stamp called "Humble and Gentle"  It can be found HERE. Thanks for stopping by.

A whacky card for FWF

I made this card for Unity's Friday Friends with Flair.  I have had these stamps for quite some time, but I have never used them.  I figured it was time.  I am not sure what I think of this card.  I started by coloring the stamped images.  I then looked through my somewhat limited stash of paper.  This is not the original look I was thinking to do, but this is the paper that seemed to best fit with the colors I used on the stamps.  The card has kind of a 60s feel to it.  I think I will try again later to use this stamp set in a more attractive way.
Thanks for stopping by.

Stretching your stamps

Virginia has been sharing tips for the past few weeks on how to stretch your stamps.  Some of the tips she has given are awesome!  Check out her blog here: http://virginialusblog.blogspot.com/
This card was inspired by one of her tips.  I used clear stamps for this.  I stamped the color for the flowers with the back of the clear stamp and then stamped the front of the stamp in black.

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you will also be inspired to stretch your stamps.

Unstampabelles Challenge #13

I am entering a card in the Unstampabelles challenge again.  This challenge is "Celebrations".  I embossed the card with a happy birthday embossing folder.  The ovals and butterfly were cut with the Cricut.  Feel free to enter in the challenge yourself.  You just need to make a card with the theme Celebrations  but not use any stamps.  Thanks for stopping by.

Fun colors!

I am just loving the summery colors from The Play Date Cafe challenge.  I decided to make one more card.  I couldn't figure out a good place to put the sentiment, so I decided to put it on the inside.
